I started a new sketchbook, which is one of my favorite things to do. I love thinking about all the possibilities for these fresh new pages! The theme for this one is illustrated poetry, which is a concept I’ve been playing around with for quite some time.
I had the intention of creating a full book of illustrated poetry several months ago, and then promptly blew that project up into a much larger undertaking that is still a work-in-progress, but not actively at the moment…
If I’m being honest with myself, I’m not in the creative headspace to tackle long-form projects right now. Currently, I can only entertain flickers of shiny little ideas. Phrases and images flutter into the margins of my mind, and I have to do something with them otherwise I go crazy. So that’s what this new sketchbook is for — to collect and capture these tiny creative bursts — a landing spot for the words and images that won’t stop buzzing around in the margins of my mind.
This reminds me of a zine I made called You’re Already Ready. If you want a gentle reminder of your pre-existing readiness (despite, perhaps, not feeling ready at all), I recommend checking out this post.
Questions for you:
What’s buzzing around in the margins of your mind? How can you funnel that energy into something small, even if you don’t feel ready?
Thanks for reading!
Thanks for being here! It truly means the world to me to connect with you every week. In case you missed it, last week’s I asked “What’s calling to you?” and shared an oracle card called Explore. Check out that post here.
