The Magic of Connecting with Humans in Real Life
A behind-the-scenes look at prepping and tabling at zine fests this April.
April was a busy month! I had the opportunity to table at both Milwaukee Zine Fest and Madison Print and Resist Zine Fest. I love these events. Sharing my work in person always reminds me of the foundational reason I feel compelled to make art in the first place: to connect with other humans.
In addition to my usual ultra-mini zines, I also tried out a new experimental accordion zine of my comic Vessel and folded up some copies of intuition.

Milwaukee Zine Fest felt particularly magical this year. Huge thank you to everyone who stopped by my table, took time with my work, and said kind things. It truly amazes me every time someone spends their hard-earned money on something I made. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
My most popular zines this year were Stardust and Stink Bugs! I was delighted that my art is noticing print seemed to strike a chord with more people this year too — I even had to print more! I also debuted my Less Algorithm More Humanity print in Madison.

Every time I get the chance to table at a zine fest, I find it both completely exhausting and inspiring! It’s a good kind of tired that leaves me brimming with new ideas. I have a growing list of zine and illustration ideas, and I’m in the midst of deciding which one to work on next! More on that next month. Until then, try to stay sane out there and hug your favorite people and pets as much as possible.
Thanks for reading!
