Farewell, 2022. Hello, 2023!
If you’re reading this, that means you made it through all of 2022! It was touch and go there for a bit, wasn’t it? I say that partly joking and partly not. It was another tough year in the turbulent ‘20s.
Something that I think gets lost in the hub-bub of the whole “New Year, New Me!” mythos and setting goals is the fact that life is not linear. We are not on a singular march of incremental improvement year over year. It’s much more nuanced than that, and setbacks are inevitable.
Lately I’ve been trying to think about life in terms of seasons, not a list of achievements. So instead of sharing a list of goals, I’d like to share this list of three intentions. These are mantras I’m planning to turn to as helpful reminders throughout 2023, especially when I’m not sure how to move forward on larger projects or challenges.
I have more thoughts around these concepts, but for now I will leave these colorful images here for your gentle consideration. Also, if you’re feeling the “New Year” pressure, remember today is just another day on the calendar! It is not an actual starting point for anything unless you decide it is! It’s also a holiday. So, if you are able, I invite you to allow yourself to do nothing today! Read a book. Play a game. Take a nap. Have a delightful snack. These are my wishes for you on this New Year’s Day. Happy 2023, friends.
