You Are the Architect of Your Life
A little zine reminder to take time and space to put your own parameters in place.
I’ve been floundering a bit in the wake of finishing Stardust. This always happens to me when I finish a big project. At first, I’m happy I finished the thing! I have a fleeting moment of accomplishment! And then I obsess over…. what’s next?!
I’ve been trying to do small creative experiments instead of committing to another big project. But there’s a little voice in my brain that keeps whispering different preconceived and indecisive shoulds into my ear. I should work on this. Or maybe I should focus on that. Or wait… should I try to achieve X, Y, or Z? Shoulds are creatively stifling — a weed that can take over until you’re no longer following actual desires and paths worth traveling. It’s the opposite of what I want to cultivate right now!
If shoulds feel like they are closing in lately, here is a permission slip to take time and space — to the extent you can — to design your days, to put your own parameters in place, and to not feel obligated to accept the way things are. It’s not always possible to change things right away. But it’s almost always possible to change things gradually.
